Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
The people in his days including the pharisees, did not see Jesus as God who had all authority. They saw Jesus as a son of a carpenter from Nazareth and therefore questoned all he did. May God help you to see Jesus as the son of God with all authority, to worship and to depend on for all your life.

Yesu Amponya Mwenye Kupooza
17 Siku moja Yesu alipokuwa akifundisha, Mafarisayo na wal imu wa sheria kutoka katika kila mji wa wilaya za Galilaya, Yudea na Yerusalemu walikuwepo. Na Yesu alikuwa amejaa nguvu ya Mungu ya kuponya wagonjwa.
18 Kisha wakaja watu wamembeba mgonjwa aliyepooza kwe nye kitanda. Wakajaribu kumpitisha ndani wamfikishe alipokuwa Yesu, lakini wakashindwa kwa sababu ya msongamano wa watu. 19 Basi wakampandisha juu ya paa, wakaondoa baadhi ya vigae, wakapata nafasi ya kumteremsha yule mgonjwa pamoja na kitanda chake kwa kamba, hadi mbele ya Yesu. 20 Alipoona imani yao, Yesu alimwam bia yule mgonjwa, “Rafiki yangu, umesamehewa dhambi zako.” 21 Wale walimu wa sheria na Mafarisayo wakaanza kusemezana, “Mbona huyu anakufuru! Anadhani yeye ni nani? Hakuna awezae kusamehe dhambi ila Mungu peke yake.”
22 Yesu alifahamu mawazo yao kwa hiyo akawauliza, “Kwa nini mnafikiri mimi ninakufuru? 23 Je, ni lipi lililo rahisi zaidi, kumwambia huyu, ‘Umesamehewa dhambi zako’; au kusema, ‘Simama utembee?’ 24 Sasa nitawahakikishia kuwa mimi Mwana wa Adamu ninao uwezo wa kusamehe dhambi duniani.” Akamgeukia yule mgonjwa aliyepooza, akasema, “Nakuambia: Simama! Chukua kitanda chako uende nyumbani.” 25 Mara yule mtu aliyekuwa amepooza akasimama mbele yao wote, akachukua kitanda chake akaenda zake nyumbani, huku akimtukuza Mungu. 26 Wote waliokuwepo wakastaajabu sana. Wakajaa hofu. Wakamtukuza Mungu, wakasema, “Tumeona maajabu leo.”
Watu katika siku za Yesu ikiwa ni pamoja na Mafarisayo, hawakumwona Yesu kama mwana wa Mungu ambaye alikuwa na mamlaka yote. Walimwona Yesu kama mwana wa fundi seremala wa Nazareti, na kwa hiyo walimjaribu kila kitu alichofanya. Mungu aweze kukusaidia kuona Yesu kama mwana wa Mungu mwenye mamlaka yote, kumwabudu na kumtegemea kwa maisha yako yote.
