WEDNESDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2020 MORNING
Matthew 6:16-18 New International Version (NIV)
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
If we fast in such a way as to bring attention to ourselves, our motive being that we want others to think well of us, then there is no reward other than the praise of men. God will give no reward because He does not pay attention to fasting that is not really directed to Him.

MATHAYO 6:16-18
16 Tena mfungapo, msiwe kama wanafiki wenye uso wa kukunjamana; maana hujiumbua nyuso zao, ili waonekane na watu kuwa wanafunga. Amin, nawaambia, wamekwisha kupata thawabu yao.
17 Bali wewe ufungapo, jipake mafuta kichwani, unawe uso;
18 ili usionekane na watu kuwa unafunga, ila na Baba yako aliye sirini; na Baba yako aonaye sirini atakujazi.
Ikiwa tutafunga ili tuonekane na watu, basi malengo yetu ni kutaka watu watuone kuwa tunafaa sana, na hivyo hakuna thawabu nyingine zaidi ya kusifiwa na watu. Mungu hawezi kutupa thawabu kwa sababu hahusiki na kufunga kusikomwelekea yeye.
