36 Usitake riba kwake wala faida, bali mche Mungu wako, ili ndugu yako akae nawe.

Siku njema.

LEVITICUS 25:35-38

35 “‘If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you. 36 Do not take interest or any profit from them, but fear your God, so that they may continue to live among you. 37 You must not lend them money at interest or sell them food at a profit. 38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

Let's love our neighbours

In the above verses we read that when we see a poor person, we should help him with his needs. Stay with him as a stranger and a traveller. A guest is welcomed kindly and generously. Also helping him should not be for profit.

This text comes to remind us to help the helpless, practically. We as Christians have a responsibility to help the needy, orphans, the elderly and widows. Are we implementing this? Are we committing ourselves to a mission to help the underprivileged?

As we do this we love our brothers and proclaim the goodness of Christ. In giving our possessions to the poor, we show our love to a neighbour, considering that all wealth is given to us by God.
