Psalm 61:1-8,   Romans 12:1-2, Matthew 9:9-13

New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 61:1-8

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David.

Hear my cry, O God;
    listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth I call to you,
    I call as my heart grows faint;
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the foe.

I long to dwell in your tent forever
    and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.[b]
For you, God, have heard my vows;
    you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

Increase the days of the king’s life,
    his years for many generations.
May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;
    appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

Then I will ever sing in praise of your name
    and fulfill my vows day after day.

Footnotes:

  1. Psalm 61:1 In Hebrew texts 61:1-8 is numbered 61:2-9.
  2. Psalm 61:4 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here.

Romans 12:1-2

A Living Sacrifice

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Matthew 9:9-13

The Calling of Matthew

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Footnotes:

  1. Matthew 9:13 Hosea 6:6

We have read about how Jesus met Matthew where he was doing his daily work. Jesus called him to leave that work and follows Him. Jesus wanted Matthew to change his life, to turn from his sins and to become an Apostle of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is calling you too. He wants you to follow Him and obey Him.  Jesus has got something special for you to do too.

Will you obey Jesus?

JUMAPILI TAREHE 25 JUNI 2017   SIKU YA BWANA YA 2 BAADA YA UTATU

WAZO KUU: WITO WA KUINGIA UFALME WA MUNGU

Zaburi 61:1-8, Rumi 12:1-2, Mathayo 9:9-13

Zaburi 61:1-8

1 Ee Mungu, ukisikie kilio changu, Uyasikilize maombi yangu.
5 Maana Wewe, Mungu, umezisikia nadhiri zangu. Umewapa urithi wao waliogopao jina lako.
8 Ndivyo nitakavyoliimbia jina lako daima, Ili niondoe nadhiri zangu kila siku.

Rumi 12:1-2

Mathayo 9:9-13

9 Naye Yesu alipokuwa akipita kutoka huko aliona mtu ameketi forodhani, aitwaye Mathayo, akamwambia, Nifuate. Akaondoka, akamfuata.
12 Naye aliposikia, aliwaambia, Wenye afya hawahitaji tabibu, bali walio hawawezi.
13 Lakini nendeni, mkajifunze maana yake maneno haya, Nataka rehema, wala si sadaka; kwa maana sikuja kuwaita wenye haki, bali wenye dhambi.

Yesu alikwenda kumtafua Mathayo. Yesu alikwenda mahali Mathayo alifanya kazi na alimwita Mathayo amfuate. Mathayo aliitikia. Mathayo alitii.

Je! Utamtii Yesu?
