John 17:4-9 New International Version (NIV)
4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
6 “I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
Prayer and inner joy are linked together because prayer opens a door to the presence and guidance of the Lord.
We Christians should pray to have the kind of close relationship Jesus had with God. We are to desire to be as united with other believers as Jesus was with His Father. Jesus’ prayer tells us that, we are meant to experience that kind of fellowship and unity.

YOHANA 17:4-9
4 Mimi nimekutukuza duniani, hali nimeimaliza kazi ile uliyonipa niifanye.
5 Na sasa, Baba, unitukuze mimi pamoja nawe, kwa utukufu ule niliokuwa nao pamoja nawe kabla ya ulimwengu kuwako.
6 Jina lako nimewadhihirishia watu wale ulionipa katika ulimwengu; walikuwa wako, ukanipa mimi, na neno lako wamelishika.
7 Sasa wamejua ya kuwa yote uliyonipa yatoka kwako.
8 Kwa kuwa maneno uliyonipa nimewapa wao; nao wakayapokea, wakajua hakika ya kuwa nalitoka kwako, wakasadiki ya kwamba wewe ndiwe uliyenituma.
9 Mimi nawaombea hao; siuombei ulimwengu; bali hao ulionipa, kwa kuwa hao ni wako;
Maombi na raha ndani ya mioyo yetu vina uhusiano kwa sababu maombi hufungua mlango kwa ajili ya uwepo na uongozi wa Bwana.
Sisi Wakristo tumwombe Mungu ili tupate kuwa na uhusiano wa karibu kama aliokuwa nao Yesu Kristo na Mungu. Tutamani kuwa na umoja na Wakristo wenzetu kama vile Yesu alivyokuwa na Baba yake. Maombi ya Yesu yanatukumbusha kuwa, tunapaswa kuwa na umoja na ushirika miongoni mwetu.
