Jeremiah 18:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 They said, “Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let’s attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says.”
Prophet Jeremiah was sent by God to warn the people of Israel against their evil ways and the punishment that will come from God. (Read Verse 1-17 of this chapter) But they hardened their hearts and made plans to harm the messenger of God so they will not hear his message. Many times we hear the word of God preaching against what may seem our way of life, or what we like to do. Do we take action to correct our ways? Do we praise the preacher for the teaching? The word of God will not change to suit our liking. Pray that God helps you to listen and follow his word.

18 Hapo ndipo waliposema, Njoni na tufanye mashauri juu ya Yeremia; maana sheria haitampotea kuhani, wala shauri halitampotea mwenye hekima, wala neno halitampotea nabii. Njoni, na tumpige kwa ndimi zetu, wala tusiyaangalie maneno yake yo yote.
Mtume Yeremia alitumwa na Mungu kuwaonya watu wa Israeli dhidi ya njia zao mbaya na adhabu ambayo itatoka kwa Mungu. (Soma Mstari wa 1-17 wa sura hii) Lakini walifanya mioyo yao kuwa migumu na kupanga mipango ya kumdhuru Mtume wa Mungu ili wasisikie ujumbe wake. Mara nyingi tunasikia neno la Mungu likihubiri dhidi ya kile kinachoonekana kama njia yetu ya maisha, au kile tunachopenda kufanya. Je! Tunachukua hatua ili kurekebisha njia zetu? Je! Tunamsifu mhubiri kwa mafundisho? Neno la Mungu haliwezi kubadilika kulingana na kupendezwa kwetu. Omba Mungu atakusaidie kusikiliza na kufuata neno lake.
