THURSDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2019 MORNING
Exodus 19:3-8 New International Version (NIV)
3 Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
7 So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. 8 The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.”So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.

God chose the nation of Israel to be His special people. He made a covenant with them. God gave His people laws to obey and later He spoke to them through the Prophets.
But God wanted the people to obey His laws. He promised to bless them if they obeyed.
As Christians we are also God’s special to God. Jesus died to save us from our sins. The Apostle Peter echoes the words of 6 above in 1 Peter 2:9.

KUTOKA 19:3-8
3 Musa akapanda kwa Mungu, na Bwana akamwita toka mlima ule, akisema, Utawaambia nyumba ya Yakobo, na kuwaarifu wana wa Israeli, maneno haya;
4 Mmeona jinsi nilivyowatendea Wamisri, na jinsi nilivyowachukua ninyi juu ya mbawa za tai, nikawaleta ninyi kwangu mimi.
5 Sasa basi ikiwa mtaitii sauti yangu kweli kweli, na kulishika agano langu, hapo ndipo mtakapokuwa tunu kwangu kuliko makabila yote ya watu; maana dunia yote pia ni mali yangu,
6 nanyi mtakuwa kwangu ufalme wa makuhani, na taifa takatifu. Hayo ndiyo maneno utakayowaambia wana wa Israeli.
7 Musa akaenda akawaita wazee wa watu, akawafunulia maneno hayo yote, Bwana aliyokuwa amemwagiza.
8 Watu wote wakaitika pamoja wakisema, Hayo yote aliyoyasema Bwana tutayatenda. Naye Musa akamwambia Bwana maneno ya hao watu.
Mungu alichagua Taifa la Israeli kuwa watu wake. Mungu aliwapa amri zake na baadaye alituma Manabii. Manabii walipeleka ujumbe wa Mungu kwa watu wake. Mungu alitaka Waisraeli kutii amri zake. Mara nyingi walishindwa kufanya hivi.
Sisi Wakristo, ni watu wa Mungu pia. Yesu Kristo alikuja duniani kwa watu wote. Yesu alikufa msalabani na kufufuka kulipa deni la dhambi zetu. Mtume Petro katika Nyaraka yake ya Kwanza 1 Petro 2:9 anatamka maneno yanayofanana na maneno katika mstari wa 6 hapo juu.
