Romans 7:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

- Romans 7:5 In contexts like this, the Greek word for flesh (sarx) refers to the sinful state of human beings, often presented as a power in opposition to the Spirit.
The Law of God, for instance the Ten Commandments, is good. But it cannot save us. The Law shows us how we should live and helps us to understand that we are sinners. But we are not able to perfectly fulfill God’s Laws, so we cannot be saved by obeying the law.
Instead we need to be saved by faith in Jesus Christ and led by the Holy Spirit. Our sins can be forgiven and we can produce the fruit of the Spirit as the Holy Spirit enables us.

WARUMI 7:5-6
5 Kwa maana tulipokuwa katika hali ya mwili, tamaa za dhambi, zilizokuwako kwa sababu ya torati, zilitenda kazi katika viungo vyetu hata mkaizalia mauti mazao.
6 Bali sasa tumefunguliwa katika torati, tumeifia hali ile iliyotupinga, ili sisi tupate kutumika katika hali mpya ya roho, si katika hali ya zamani, ya andiko.
Sheria ya Mungu, km. Amri Kumi za Mungu, ni njema. Sheria zinatuonyesha tunavyopaswa kufanya. Lakini tunaposhindwa kutii kikamilifu ndipo dhambi zetu zinaonekana. Hatuwezi kujitakasa kwa kutii sheria. Ndiyo tunahitaji kuokolewa kwa kumtegemea Yesu Kristo. Pia tunapaswa kuongozwa na Roho Mtakatifu ili tuzae Tunda la Roho.
