Psalm 119:41-48  New International Version (NIV)

ו Waw

41 May your unfailing love come to me, Lord,
    your salvation, according to your promise;
42 then I can answer anyone who taunts me,
for I trust in your word.
43 Never take your word of truth from my mouth,
for I have put my hope in your laws.
44 I will always obey your law,
    for ever and ever.
45 I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
46 I will speak of your statutes before kings
and will not be put to shame,
47 for I delight in your commands
    because I love them.
48 I reach out for your commands, which I love,
that I may meditate on your decrees.

Galatians 5:1

Freedom in Christ

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

John 6:1-14

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Festival was near.

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up,“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there).11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

Footnotes:

  1. John 6:7 Greek take two hundred denarii

Jesus had compassion on the people because they were hungry. Jesus took the small amount of food offered to Him by the boy and multiplied it so that it was more than enough to feed the huge crowd. When we are willing to give to Jesus freely what we have He will take it and use it to bless us and other people. Let us be willing to give ourselves to be used in God’s service.  Let us be willing to give our time, money and talents in God’s service.

NENO KUU: YESU KRISTO NI CHAKULA CHA UZIMA

Zaburi 119:41-48, Galatia 5:1, Yohana 6:1-14

Zaburi 119:41-48

41 Ee Bwana, fadhili zako zinifikie na mimi, Naam, wokovu wako sawasawa na ahadi yako.
42 Nami nitamjibu neno anilaumuye, Kwa maana nalitumainia neno lako.

7 Filipo akamjibu, Mikate ya dinari mia mbili haiwatoshi, kila mmoja apate kidogo tu.
8 Wanafunzi wake mmojawapo, Andrea, nduguye Simoni Petro, akamwambia,
10 Yesu akasema, Waketisheni watu. Na mahali pale palikuwa na majani tele. Basi watu waume wakaketi, wapata elfu tano jumla yao.
12 Nao waliposhiba, aliwaambia wanafunzi wake, Kusanyeni vipande vilivyobaki, kisipotee cho chote.

Yesu alihurumia watu wenye mahitaji mbalimbali. Aliwalisha wenye njaa. Mtoto alikuwa tayari kumpa Yesu chakula kidogo alichokuwa nacho.
