IJUMAA KUU TAREHE 2 APRILI 2021

Siku ya kukumbuka Yesu Kristo aliposulubishwa

Masomo; Zab 102:1-7; Luka 23:44-49; *Isaya 53:8-9*

Aliteswa na kufa kwa ajili yetu;

Alidharauliwa;

Wapo waliompokea Yesu, lakini wapo  waliomkataa, hadi kumsulibisha.

Isaya 53:3 Alidharauliwa na kukataliwa na watu;

Mtu wa huzuni nyingi, ajuaye sikitiko;

Sisi ndiyo sababu;

Kama wazo la siku lilivyo, Yesu aliteswa na kufa kwa ajili yetu. Yaani sisi ndio sababu ya yeye kufa. Dhambi zetu ndio zilimpeleka msalabani. Sasa alikwisha kuzibeba, kwa nini tusitubu na kumgeukia? Baada ya kuteswa, kufa na kufufuka, tulipona, yaani tumeokolewa. Isaya alilisema hili, kuwa baada ya Yesu kufa, wokovu utakuwa tayari;

Isaya 53:5 ‘Bali alijeruhiwa kwa makosa yetu,

Alichubuliwa kwa maovu yetu;

Isaiah 53:8-9 New International Version

By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.

He suffered and died for us;

The book of Isaiah chapter 53 contains a prophecy about a servant who suffered for others. Isaiah informs his readers that there is one who will come into the world to save people, and he will suffer for them. It is a prediction of the coming of Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world, who came to suffer for the sins of the world. If you read from verse 1, you will see how Jesus went through various situations such as beatings, torture, contempt, oppression, etc. but in all of that he was humble. He bore our Sins and sorrows, walking on the way to the cross.

Isaiah's prophecy shows God's plan of salvation for mankind. So Isaiah also prepares the world, that Jesus Christ, who will be the Savior of the world, will come, and in salvation he will go through suffering and death on the cross.

So the Prophet Isaiah can be said to inform us that Jesus Christ is the one who suffered and died for us. He was the one who was beaten and tortured, to the point of crucifixion.

He was despised;

Some accepted Jesus, but some rejected Him, even crucifying Him.

Isaiah 53: 3 He was despised and rejected by men;

A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:

and we hid as it were our faces from him;

And as a man whose faces conceal his face,

He was despised, and we esteemed him not.

As we commemorate his death, we have an obligation to reflect on his place in our hearts.

Have we received him?

Or do we despise him?

Reflect on your conduct in following Jesus, so that you do not become like those who despised him and refused to accept him.

We are the reason;

As the idea of the day is, Jesus suffered and died for us. That is, we are the reason he died. It was our sins that led him to the cross. Now that he was carrying them, why not repent and turn to him? After suffering, dying and being resurrected, we were saved, that is, saved. Isaiah said this, that after Jesus died, salvation would be ready;

Isaiah 53: 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities;

He was wounded for our transgressions;

The chastisement of our peace was upon him;

And with his stripes we are healed.

This is a guarantee of salvation.

Our job or responsibility is to take the step of Faith, abiding in Christ Jesus in our lives.

This year again we commemorate the death of Jesus on the cross for us. Do you celebrate traditionally just because of history? Or with specific reflection on salvation?

Let us not only celebrate Good Friday because of history, but history should help us remember that Jesus died for us. May His death make us reflect on our place in the life of salvation, with a good testimony to life.

Jesus died for us.
