Jeremiah 22:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
13 “Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness,
his upper rooms by injustice,
making his own people work for nothing,
not paying them for their labor.
14 He says, ‘I will build myself a great palace
with spacious upper rooms.’
So he makes large windows in it,
panels it with cedar
and decorates it in red.
King Jehoiakim built a palace for himself while his people suffered. He required his subjects to work on the project without compensation. God, through His prophet Jeremiah, condemns him for not being responsible to the people entrusted to him. God does speak to the king and all those with authority or responsibility; from the family level to the higher ones.
We are not to use the power or position given to us for personal advantage, but we are to rule and guide in justice and righteousness. Justice means making right decisions according to God’s commands and the prescribed laws in a particular area. Righteousness means doing what is correct according to God’s moral standards. May God through the Holy Spirit give us the ability to act wisely in whatever position we are, to love and be a person for others.

YEREMIA 22:13-14
13 Ole wake aijengaye nyumba yake kwa uovu! Na vyumba vyake kwa udhalimu! Atumiaye utumishi wa mwenzake bila ujira, Wala hampi mshahara wake;
14 Asemaye, Nitajijengea nyumba pana na vyumba vipana; Naye hujikatia madirisha; Na kuta zake zimefunikwa kwa mierezi, Na kupakwa rangi nyekundu.
