IJUMAA TAHERE 28 MEI 2021, ASUBUHI
1 Samweli 2:1-10
1 Naye Hana akaomba, akasema, Moyo wangu wamshangilia Bwana, Pembe yangu imetukuka katika Bwana, Kinywa changu kimepanuka juu ya adui zangu; Kwa kuwa naufurahia wokovu wako;
4 Pinde zao mashujaa zimevunjika, Na hao waliojikwaa wamefungiwa nguvu.
6 Bwana huua, naye hufanya kuwa hai; Hushusha hata kuzimu, tena huleta juu.
7 Bwana hufukarisha mtu, naye hutajirisha; Hushusha chini, tena huinua juu.
9 Yeye atailinda miguu ya watakatifu wake; Bali waovu watanyamazishwa gizani, Maana kwa nguvu hakuna atakayeshinda;
10 Washindanao na Bwana watapondwa kabisa; Toka mbinguni yeye atawapigia radi; Bwana ataihukumu miisho ya dunia; Naye atampa mfalme wake nguvu, Na kuitukuza pembe ya masihi wake.
Roho Mtakatifu nguvu yetu;
Hana anatamka kuufurahia wokovu.
Siku njema.
FRIDAY 28TH MAY 2021, MORNING
1 Samuel 2:1-10
Hannah’s Prayer
1 Then Hannah prayed and said:
“My heart rejoices in the Lord;
in the Lord my horn[a] is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies,
for I delight in your deliverance.
2 “There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.
3 “Do not keep talking so proudly
or let your mouth speak such arrogance,
for the Lord is a God who knows,
and by him deeds are weighed.
4 “The bows of the warriors are broken,
but those who stumbled are armed with strength.
5 Those who were full hire themselves out for food,
but those who were hungry are hungry no more.
She who was barren has borne seven children,
but she who has had many sons pines away.
6 “The Lord brings death and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave and raises up.
7 The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts.
8 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
and has them inherit a throne of honor.
“For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s;
on them he has set the world.
9 He will guard the feet of his faithful servants,
but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.
“It is not by strength that one prevails;
10 those who oppose the Lord will be broken.
The Most High will thunder from heaven;
the Lord will judge the ends of the earth.
“He will give strength to his king
and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
Footnotes
- 1 Samuel 2:1 Horn here symbolizes strength; also in verse 10.
The Holy Spirit is our strength;
The first book of Samuel opens with an account about a woman named Hannah who had no children. She went to the Lord and prayed, and she gave birth to a son.
Now this morning's lesson is Hannah's prayer after having a baby. In thanksgiving he praises the Holy Lord, who lifts up the weak and blesses them. Hannah describes the praises of the Lord in her prayer.
In verse 10, Hannah shows that no one can compete with the Lord. He is the creator, and he is the one who will come to judge.
Hannah declares to rejoice in salvation. Here, of course, her joy was filled with the Holy Spirit, who enabled her to have a child, Samuel. The power of the Holy Spirit enabled Hannah to find Samuel, and in that power she stands to praise the Lord.
We see that Hannah lived by the power of the Holy Spirit. By whose power do you live?
Good day.
