Proverbs 3:11-12
11My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.[a]
Parents will discipline their children in various ways when they misbehave. They do this because they do not want the children to go astray or potray bad manners, and because they love them. Equally, God as our heavenly father has the same right in our lives, to discipline us when we stray from his commandments, because he loves us.

11 Mwanangu, usidharau kuadhibiwa na Bwana, Wala usione ni taabu kurudiwa naye.
12 Kwa kuwa Bwana ampendaye humrudi, Kama vile baba kwa mwanawe ampendezaye.
Wazazi wanaweza kuwaadhibu watoto wao wanapokosa. Wanafanya hivi ili watoto wakue katika maadili mema, na kwa kuwa wanawapenda. Mungu kama baba yetu wa mbinguni, naye ana haki kama hiyo katika maisha yetu, kutuadhibu tunapokwenda kinyume na amri zake, kwa sababu anatupenda.
