Proverbs 23:13-15 New International Version (NIV)
13 Do not withhold discipline from a child;
if you punish them with the rod, they will not die.
14 Punish them with the rod
and save them from death.
15 My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad indeed;
The rod of correction is righteous because every child is born a sinner and needs correction to overcome sin in his/her life. The rod must be used with love, wisdom and prayer, to accomplish its goal of correction.

13 Usimnyime mtoto wako mapigo; Maana ukimpiga kwa fimbo hatakufa.
14 Utampiga kwa fimbo, Na kumwokoa nafsi yake na Kuzimu.
15 Mwanangu, kama moyo wako una hekima, Moyo wangu utafurahi, naam, moyo wangu;
Kumrudi mtoto kwa fimbo ni haki kwa sababu kila mtoto amezaliwa na asili ya dhambi na anahitaji kurekebishwa ili kuishinda dhambi maishani mwake. Ni vyema fimbo ikatumika kwa upendo, hekima na maombi, ili kutimiza lengo lake la kumrudi mtoto.
