Psalm 77:11-20, John 4:22-26, Joel 2:28-32
Psalm 77:11-20 New International Version (NIV)
11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”
13 Your ways, God, are holy.
What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.
15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
16 The waters saw you, God,
the waters saw you and writhed;
the very depths were convulsed.
17 The clouds poured down water,
the heavens resounded with thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.
18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and quaked.
19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.
20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
John 4:22-26 New International Version (NIV)
22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spiritand in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
Joel 2:28-32
The Day of the Lord
28 “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
32 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance,
as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors
whom the Lord calls.[a]

Today we remember the coming of The Holy Spirit upon the disciples giving them power to preach and evangelize.
On that day 3000 people believed in Jesus Christ and were baptized. This was the official beginning of the Christian Church.
In his sermon on that day The Apostle Peter quoted the above passage from the prophet Joel which he said had been fulfilled.
Thank God for the gift of The Holy Spirit who lives in us and enables us to turn from sin and witness for Christ.

Zaburi 77:11-20
11 Nitayakumbuka matendo ya Bwana; Naam, nitayakumbuka maajabu yako ya kale.
12 Pia nitaitafakari kazi yako yote; Nitaziwaza habari za matendo yako.
13 Ee Mungu, njia yako i katika utakatifu; Ni nani aliye mungu mkuu kama Mungu?
14 Wewe ndiwe Mungu ufanyaye maajabu; Uliudhihirisha uweza wako kati ya mataifa.
15 Kwa mkono wako umewakomboa watu wako, Wana wa Yakobo na Yusufu.
16 Ee Mungu, yale maji yalikuona, Yale maji yalikuona, yakaogopa. Vilindi vya maji navyo vikatetemeka,
17 Mawingu yakamwaga maji. Mbingu nazo zikatoa sauti, Mishale yako nayo ikatapakaa.
18 Sauti ya radi yako ikawa katika kisulisuli; Umeme uliuangaza ulimwengu. Nchi ilitetemeka na kutikisika;

Yohana 4:22-26
22 Ninyi mnaabudu msichokijua; sisi tunaabudu tukijuacho; kwa kuwa wokovu watoka kwa Wayahudi.
23 Lakini saa inakuja, nayo sasa ipo, ambayo waabuduo halisi watamwabudu Baba katika roho na kweli. Kwa maana Baba awatafuta watu kama hao wamwabudu.
24 Mungu ni Roho, nao wamwabuduo yeye imewapasa kumwabudu katika roho na kweli.
25 Yule mwanamke akamwambia, Najua ya kuwa yuaja Masihi, (aitwaye Kristo); naye atakapokuja, yeye atatufunulia mambo yote.
26 Yesu akamwambia, Mimi ninayesema nawe, ndiye.
Yoeli 2:28-32
28 Hata itakuwa, baada ya hayo, ya kwamba nitamimina roho yangu juu ya wote wenye mwili; na wana wenu, waume kwa wake, watatabiri, wazee wenu wataota ndoto, na vijana wenu wataona maono;
29 tena juu ya watumishi wenu, wanaume kwa wanawake, katika siku zile, nitamimina roho yangu.
30 Nami nitaonyesha mambo ya ajabu katika mbingu na katika dunia, damu, na moto, na minara ya moshi.
31 Jua litageuzwa kuwa giza, na mwezi kuwa damu, kabla haijaja hiyo siku ya Bwana iliyo kuu na itishayo.
32 Na itakuwa ya kwamba mtu awaye yote atakayeliita jina la Bwana ataponywa; kwa kuwa katika mlima Sayuni na katika Yerusalemu watakuwako watu watakaookoka, kama Bwana alivyosema; na katika mabaki, hao awaitao Bwana.
Leo ni Siku ya Pentekoste. Tunakumbuka jinsi Roho Mtakatifu alishukia wanafunzi kuwawezesha kumshuhudia Yesu.
Petro alihubiri akinukuu maneno haya ya Nabii Yoeli. Alisema utabiri huo ulitimizwa siku ile.
Watu 3000 waliamini Yesu Kristo siku ile na kubatizwa kama waamini. Huu ndiyo mwanzo wa Kanisa la Kikristo.
Mhsukuru Mungu kwa Roho Mtakatifu ndani yako ambaye anakupa nguvu kuishi maisha matakatifu na kumshuhudia Yesu.
