Yeremia 31:31-34
31 Angalia, siku zinakuja, asema Bwana, nitakapofanya agano jipya na nyumba ya Israeli, na nyumba ya Yuda.
32 Si kwa mfano wa agano lile nililolifanya na baba zao, katika siku ile nilipowashika mkono, ili kuwatoa katika nchi ya Misri; ambalo agano langu hilo walilivunja, ingawa nalikuwa mume kwao, asema Bwana.
33 Bali agano hili ndilo nitakalofanya na nyumba ya Israeli, baada ya siku zile, asema Bwana; Nitatia sheria yangu ndani yao, na katika mioyo yao nitaiandika; nami nitakuwa Mungu wao, nao watakuwa watu wangu.
34 Wala hawatamfundisha kila mtu jirani yake, na kila mtu ndugu yake, wakisema, Mjue Bwana; kwa maana watanijua wote, tangu mtu aliye mdogo miongoni mwao hata aliye mkubwa miongoni mwao, asema Bwana; maana nitausamehe uovu wao, wala dhambi yao sitaikumbuka tena.
Roho Mtakatifu nguvu yetu;
Mungu anaweka Agano na Israel, la kuwa Mungu wao, nao kuwa watu wake. Bwana anaahidi kuwasamehe wote, na kutokumbuka dhambi zao. Wakati huo Bwana alinena pitia kwa manabii, kama hapa alivyonena kupitia kwa Nabii Yeremia. Huu ni wakati wa Agano la kale.
Baadae Yesu Kristo alikuja duniani akafa msalabani kwa ajili yetu. Yeye hutusamehe dhambi zetu, na hazikumbuki tunapotubu. Kusamehewa dhambi siyo sababu kwamba tutende dhambi kwa sababu msamaha upo, la hasha! Bali pale tunapoona tumekosa tumwendee kwa toba. Yeye ameahidi kutusamehe na kutokumbuka dhambi zetu.
Hapa msisitizo ni kuwa lazima tuishinde dhambi. Lakini hatuwezi kuishinda dhambi kwa nguvu zetu wenyewe. Yesu Kristo anatupa Roho Mtakatifu wake ili atusaidie. Wajibu wetu ni kuweka mioyo yetu safi ili Roho Mtakatifu awe nguvu yetu katika kushinda dhambi. Siku njema.
WEDNESDAY 26TH MAY 2021, MORNING
Jeremiah 31:31-34 New International Version
31 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to[a] them,[b]”
declares the Lord.
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

The Holy Spirit is our strength;
God makes a covenant with Israel, to be their God, and to be his people. The Lord promises to forgive all of them, and not to remember their sins. At that time the Lord spoke through the prophets, as here he spoke through the prophet Jeremiah. This is the time of the Old Testament.
Later Jesus Christ came to earth and died on the cross for us. He forgives our sins, and he does not remember them when we repent. Forgiveness of sins is not a reason for us to sin because forgiveness exists, of course not! But when we see that we have sinned, let us go to Him in repentance. He has promised to forgive us and not to remember our sins.
Here the emphasis is on the fact that we must overcome sin. But we cannot overcome sin in our own strength. Jesus Christ gives us His Holy Spirit to help us. Our responsibility is to keep our hearts pure so that the Holy Spirit can be our strength in overcoming sin. Good day.
