SATURDAY 3RD AUGUST 2019 MORNING
Matthew 22:34-40 New International Version (NIV)
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Footnotes:
Matthew 22:37 Deut. 6:5
Matthew 22:39 Lev. 19:18
Jesus faced many challenging questions from the Jewish Religious leaders, the Sadducees and the Pharisees. They were not genuinely seeking answers to their questions but they were trying to trap and discredit Jesus. But they never succeeded. Jesus always had the perfect answer for them.
Jesus shows here that all the commandments are important and they can be summed up by loving God and loving other people. This should still be our aim today.
JUMAMOSI TAREHE 3 AGOSTI 2019 ASUBUHI
Mathayo 22:34-40
35 Mmoja wao, mwana-sheria, akamwuliza, akimjaribu;
