Matendo 8:14-17

14 Na mitume waliokuwako Yerusalemu, waliposikia ya kwamba Samaria imelikubali neno la Mungu, wakawapelekea Petro na Yohana;
15 ambao waliposhuka, wakawaombea wampokee Roho Mtakatifu;
16 kwa maana bado hajawashukia hata mmoja wao, ila wamebatizwa tu kwa jina lake Bwana Yesu.
17 Ndipo wakaweka mikono yao juu yao, nao wakampokea Roho Mtakatifu.

Roho Mtakatifu nguvu yetu;

Alhamis njema.

Acts 8:14-17  [NIV]

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our strength;

It is after Stephen is stoned to death, Saul continues to persecute the Church, Philip preaches in Samaria, the Samaritans receive the Gospel.

After the apostles saw that Samaria had received the Gospel, they brought Peter and John, who prayed for the people to receive the Holy Spirit.

In addition to the baptism, the Apostles knew fully well that the Samaritans needed the Holy Spirit to abide in Jesus Christ whom they had received. Ask yourself this morning; in addition to being baptized, do you have the Holy Spirit?

It is the Holy Spirit who enables us to live the word of Christ, in the life of faith. So let us keep our hearts pure, so that the Holy Spirit may dwell in us always, then we will be able to overcome sin.
