SATURDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2017 MORNING
Luke 2:22-24 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Presented in the Temple
22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”[a]), 24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”[b]
Footnotes:
Joseph and Mary took baby Jesus to the temple according to the Jewish laws and offered to God the required sacrifice. They dedicated Jesus to God. Notice from Leviticus 12:8 that Joseph and Mary did not have much money otherwise they would have offered a lamb. They were humble and faithful and committed to God.
Let us be faithful in obeying God’s laws and giving our offerings and tithes to Him. Let us not say we can not give because we are poor. Let us also commit our children into God’s hands that they would grow to serve Him.
