THURSDAY 10TH AUGUST 2017 MORNING
Ezekiel 33:10-20 New International Version (NIV)
10 “Son of man, say to the Israelites, ‘This is what you are saying: “Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of[a]them. How then can we live?”’ 11 Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’
12 “Therefore, son of man, say to your people, ‘If someone who is righteous disobeys, that person’s former righteousness will count for nothing. And if someone who is wicked repents, that person’s former wickedness will not bring condemnation. The righteous person who sins will not be allowed to live even though they were formerly righteous.’13 If I tell a righteous person that they will surely live, but then they trust in their righteousness and do evil, none of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered; they will die for the evil they have done. 14 And if I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ but they then turn away from their sin and do what is just and right— 15 if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil—that person will surely live; they will not die. 16 None of the sins that person has committed will be remembered against them. They have done what is just and right; they will surely live.
17 “Yet your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just. 18 If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, they will die for it. 19 And if a wicked person turns away from their wickedness and does what is just and right, they will live by doing so. 20 Yet you Israelites say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to your own ways.”

The Prophet Ezekiel gives the message from The Lord to the people. He tells them to repent of their sins. They should not despair because of their past sins. God will forgive all their sins if they truly repent and change their ways. However if they start sinning after a life of righteousness God will judge them. Their past good deeds will not cover or excuse their current sins.
Let us turn from sin, repent and obey God always. Let us not become tired of doing good.

10 Na wewe, mwanadamu, sema na nyumba ya Israeli; Ninyi mwasema hivi, kwamba, Makosa yetu na dhambi zetu ni juu yetu, nasi tumedhoofika katika dhambi hizo; basi tungewezaje kuwa hai?
11 Waambie, Kama mimi niishivyo, asema Bwana MUNGU, sikufurahii kufa kwake mtu mwovu; bali aghairi mtu mwovu, na kuiacha njia yake mbaya, akaishi. Ghairini, ghairini, mkaache njia zenu mbaya; mbona mnataka kufa, Enyi nyumba ya Israeli?
12 Na wewe, mwanadamu, waambie wana wa watu wako, Haki yake mwenye haki haitamwokoa, katika siku ya kukosa kwake; na kwa habari ya uovu wake mtu mwovu, hataanguka kwa ajili ya uovu huo, siku ile atakapoghairi na kuuacha uovu wake; wala yeye aliye mwenye haki hataweza kuishi kwa haki yake, siku ile atakapotenda dhambi.
13 Nimwambiapo mwenye haki, ya kwamba hakika ataishi; kama akiitumainia haki yake, akatenda uovu, basi katika matendo yake ya haki, hata mojawapo halitakumbukwa; bali katika uovu wake alioutenda, atakufa katika uovu huo.
14 Tena, nimwambiapo mtu mwovu, Hakika utakufa; kama akighairi, na kuiacha dhambi yake, na kutenda yaliyo halali na haki;
15 kama mtu mwovu akirudisha rehani, na kumrudishia mtu mali yake aliyomnyang'anya, akizifuata sheria za uzima, asitende uovu wo wote; hakika ataishi, hatakufa.
16 Katika dhambi zake zote alizozitenda, hata mojawapo haitakumbukwa juu yake; ametenda yaliyo halali na haki; hakika ataishi.
17 Walakini wana wa watu wako husema, Njia ya Bwana si sawa; lakini watu hao, njia yao si sawa.
18 Mwenye haki ageukapo, na kuiacha haki yake, na kutenda maovu, atakufa katika maovu hayo.
19 Na mtu mbaya ageukapo, na kuuacha ubaya wake, na kutenda yaliyo halali na haki, ataishi kwa matendo hayo.
20 Lakini ninyi husema, Njia ya Bwana si sawa. Ee nyumba ya Israeli, nitawahukumu ninyi; kila mtu kwa kadiri ya njia zake.
Mungu alisema na watu wake kupitia Nabii Ezekieli. Mungu alitaka watu wasikate tamaa. Mungu yu tayari kumsamehe yoyote ambaye atatubu na kuacha dhambi zake. Lakini mtu asigeuke tena. Mtu yeyote asidhanie kwamba matendo yake mema ya siku za nyuma yataficha dhambi za siku za mbele.
Mungu ni mwenye haki. Tutubu dhambi zetu na tuache dhambi.
