1John 3:10-12 New International Version (NIV)
10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.11 For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous.
When we receive Christ, His death and resurrection sets us free from the penalty and the power of sin, thus enabling us to say no and yes in everyday life. We can say no to the desires of the flesh, and we can say yes to right behavior.

10 Katika hili watoto wa Mungu ni dhahiri, na watoto wa Ibilisi nao. Mtu ye yote asiyetenda haki hatokani na Mungu, wala yeye asiyempenda ndugu yake.
11 Maana, hii ndiyo habari mliyoisikia tangu mwanzo, kwamba tupendane sisi kwa sisi;
12 si kama Kaini alivyokuwa wa yule mwovu, akamwua ndugu yake. Naye alimwua kwa sababu gani? Kwa sababu matendo yake yalikuwa mabaya, na ya ndugu yake yalikuwa ya haki.
Tunapompokea Kristo, kufa na kufufuka kwake, tunawekwa huru dhidi ya adhabu na nguvu ya dhambi; hivyo kutuwezesha kusema hapana na ndiyo katika maisha yetu ya kila siku. Tunaweza kusema hapana kwa tamaa za mwili, na kusema ndiyo kwa mambo yaliyo mema.
