IJUMAA TAREHE 3 SEPTEMBA 2021, ASUBUHI
Luka 10:30-37
30 Yesu akajibu akasema, Mtu mmoja alishuka toka Yerusalemu kwenda Yeriko, akaangukia kati ya wanyang’anyi; wakamvua nguo, wakamtia jeraha, wakaenda zao, wakimwacha karibu ya kufa.
31 Kwa nasibu kuhani mmoja alishuka kwa njia ile; na alipomwona alipita kando.
32 Na Mlawi vivyo hivyo, alipofika pale akamwona, akapita kando.
33 Lakini, Msamaria mmoja katika kusafiri kwake alifika hapo alipo; na alipomwona alimhurumia,
34 akakaribia, akamfunga jeraha zake, akizitia mafuta na divai; akampandisha juu ya mnyama wake, akampeleka mpaka nyumba ya wageni, akamtunza.
35 Hata siku ya pili akatoa dinari mbili, akampa mwenye nyumba ya wageni, akisema, Mtunze huyu, na cho chote utakachogharimiwa zaidi, mimi nitakaporudi nitakulipa.
36 Waonaje wewe, katika hao watatu, ni yupi aliyekuwa jirani yake yule aliyeangukia kati ya wanyang’anyi?
37 Akasema, Ni huyo aliyemwonea huruma. Yesu akamwambia, Enenda zako, nawe ukafanye vivyo hivyo.
Tuwapende jirani zetu
Tunasoma habari za mwanasheria aliyemjaribu Yesu, akimuuliza ‘afanye nini apate kuurithi uzima wa milele?’ Yesu akamuuliza, wasomaje katika torati? Yule mwanasheria akajibu kama ilivyoandikwa katika Luka 10:27;
27 Akajibu akasema, Mpende Bwana Mungu wako kwa moyo wako wote, na kwa roho yako yote, na kwa nguvu zako zote, na kwa akili zako zote; na jirani yako kama nafsi yako.
Ndipo katika kujidai haki, yule mwanasheria akamuuliza Yesu, jirani yangu ni nani? Jibu alilopewa ndilo somo la leo asubuhi.
Yesu anaonesha kuwa jirani yetu ni mtu yeyote. Jirani hachaguliwi! Kwa maana hiyo, ni wajibu wetu kutenda wema kama yule msamaria.
Watheologia wa Agano jipya, husema kuwa, yule msamaria naye alikuwa Yerusalemu, katika kazi zake alivamiwa na kunyang'anywa kiasi cha fedha.
Kati ya waliomnyang'anya, mmojawapo ni huyu aliyekutana na wanyang’anyi waliomzidi kiwango, wakampiga karibu ya kufa, akitoka Yerusalemu kuelekea Yeriko.
Baadaye huyu Msamaria naye akiwa njiani kurudi, akakuta mnyang'anyi wake amepigwa anakaribia kufa. Yaani aliyemnyang'anya fedha zake, yuko hoi! Hakulipiza kisasi, akambeba kumpeleka akapate tiba.
Leo hii umeenda sokoni kufanya biashara, ikamalizika vizuri halafu ukavamiwa na majambazi wakakunyang'anya fedha zako, na vile unarudi ukute kuna mtu kapigwa kiasi cha kufa, na ukamtambua kuwa alihusika kukuvamia, utamsaidia kumpeleka kwenye matibabu? Uko tayari kuzunguka naye upate PF3 halafu akatibiwe?
Yesu alimuuliza kati ya kuhani, mlawi na msamaria nani alifanya sahihi? Yaani nani alikuwa jirani? Bila shaka ni msamaria kama mwanasheria alivyojibu.
Na sisi tukafanye vivyo hivyo, kama Yesu anavyoagiza, yaani kumpenda jirani yako kama nafsi yako, bila kusahau kuwapenda adui zetu na kuwaombea wanaotuudhi, ndipo tutapata baraka ya Bwana.

LUKE 10:30-37
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[a] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Let us love our neighbors
We read of a lawyer who tempted Jesus, asking him ‘what shall he do to inherit eternal life?’ Jesus asked him, what does the law say in the Torah? The lawyer answered as recorded in Luke 10:27;
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
Then, in self-righteousness, the lawyer asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbour?" The answer he was given is this morning's lesson.
Jesus shows that our neighbour is anyone. A neighbour is not who you choose! In that sense, it is our duty to do good like that Samaritan.
New Testament theologians claim that the Samaritan, who also had been in Jerusalem, had been attacked and robbed of his money.
One of his assailants was this man who met robbers who overpowered him and beat him to near death, while on his way from Jerusalem to Jericho.
Later this Samaritan man, on his way back, found that his thief had been beaten nearly to death. That is, the one who robbed him of his money, is helpless! He did not retaliate, but carried him and looked after him.
If today you went to the market to do business, it ended well and then you were attacked by robbers who robbed you of your money, and when you come back to find someone beaten nearly to death, and you realize that he was responsible for attacking you, will you help him to get medical treatment? Are you ready to go around with him to get PF3 and then be treated?
Jesus asked the lawyer ‘between the priest, the Levite and the Samaritan who did what was right?’ That is, who was his neighbour? Of course the Samaritan, as the lawyer replied.
And if we do the same, as Jesus commands, that is, to love our neighbour as yourself, without forgetting to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us, then we will receive the blessing of the Lord.
