1 John 2:12-17 New International Version (NIV)
12 I am writing to you, dear children,
because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
14 I write to you, dear children,
because you know the Father.
I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God lives in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
On Not Loving the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[d] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
As believers we are all children, fathers, and young men. Apostle John reminds us that, from whatever perspective you look, or in whatever role you play, “Do not love the world,” it means, do not be yoked with the things or a system that is opposed to God. The love of the world will drive us out of love for God. We must remind ourselves again and again that the will of God is eternal. Beauty is short-lived, and it fades with the passing of time.

12 Nawaandikia ninyi, watoto wadogo, kwa sababu mmesamehewa dhambi zenu, kwa ajili ya jina lake.
13 Nawaandikia ninyi, akina baba, kwa sababu mmemjua yeye aliye tangu mwanzo. Nawaandikia ninyi, vijana, kwa sababu mmemshinda yule mwovu. Nimewaandikia ninyi, watoto, kwa sababu mmemjua Baba.
14 Nimewaandikia ninyi, akina baba, kwa sababu mmemjua yeye aliye tangu mwanzo. Nimewaandikia ninyi, vijana, kwa sababu mna nguvu, na neno la Mungu linakaa ndani yenu, nanyi mmemshinda yule mwovu.
15 Msiipende dunia, wala mambo yaliyomo katika dunia. Mtu akiipenda dunia, kumpenda Baba hakumo ndani yake.
16 Maana kila kilichomo duniani, yaani, tamaa ya mwili, na tamaa ya macho, na kiburi cha uzima, havitokani na Baba, bali vyatokana na dunia.
17 Na dunia inapita, pamoja na tamaa zake, bali yeye afanyaye mapenzi ya Mungu adumu hata milele.
Sisi sote tunaomwamini Yesu Kristo ni watoto, wazazi na vijana. Mtume Yohana anatukumbusha kuwa, haijalishi mtazamo tulionao, au wajibu wetu katika jamii, “tusiipende dunia,” hii inamaanisha, tusifungiwe nira na mambo au mfumo ulio kinyume na Mungu. Tukiipenda dunia, kumpenda Mungu kutakuwa mbali nasi. Ni vyema tukumbuke mara kwa mara kwamba mapenzi ya Mungu ni ya milele. Uzuri wa dunia hii ni wa muda, nao unapita kwa kitambo tu.
