The Remnant of Israel

1 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”[a]?4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[b] 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

The Apostle Paul is very concerned for his nation Israel. He longs that Jewish people would accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah prophesied in their Holy Scriptures. He has the promise from God that some will come to faith by the Grace of God. Let us pray for Jewish people to understand that Jesus Christ is the son of God who came to earth to save us. He is one with God the Father their own God Yaweh.

WARUMI 11:1-6

1 Basi, nauliza, Je! Mungu aliwasukumia mbali watu wake? Hasha! Kwa kuwa mimi nami ni Mwisraeli, mmoja wa wazao wa Ibrahimu, mtu wa kabila ya Benyamini. 
2 Mungu hakuwasukumia mbali watu wake aliowajua tokea awali. Au hamjui yale yaliyonenwa na maandiko juu ya Eliya? Jinsi anavyowashitaki Waisraeli mbele za Mungu, 
3 Bwana, wamewaua manabii wako, wamezibomoa madhabahu zako, nami nimesalia peke yangu, nao wananitafuta roho yangu. 
4 Lakini ile jawabu ya Mungu yamwambiaje? Nimejisazia watu elfu saba wasiopiga goti mbele ya Baali. 
5 Basi ni vivi hivi wakati huu wa sasa, yako mabaki waliochaguliwa kwa neema. 
6 Lakini ikiwa ni kwa neema, haiwi kwa matendo tena, au hapo neema isingekuwa neema. 
 

Mtume Paulo ana mzigo sana kwa wenzake Taifa la Israeli. Anatamani wayahudi wamwamini Yesu Kristo na kuelewa kwamba ndiye Mesihi aliyetabiriwa katika Maandiko yao Matakatifu. Ana ahadi ya Mungu kwamba baadhi yao wataamini. Tuwaombee Wayahudi waelewe kwamba Yesu ni Mesihi na ni mwana wa Mungu na ni mmoja na Mungu wao Yahweh.
