Matthew 3:13-17 New International Version (NIV)
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the river Jordan. Remember that this was not Christian Baptism, but a Jewish baptism for repentance. But something very important happened when Jesus was baptized. The Holy Trinity was made manifest. God the Father spoke from heaven to affirm His son, Jesus Christ the Son who is both God and man was baptized and the Holy Spirit came down upon Jesus in the form of a dove.
Your baptism was also important. God received you as His child when you were baptized. You also received the Holy Spirit to help and guide you.

MATHAYO 3:13-17
13 Wakati huo Yesu akaja kutoka Galilaya mpaka Yordani kwa Yohana ili abatizwe.
14 Lakini Yohana alitaka kumzuia, akisema, Mimi nahitaji kubatizwa na wewe, nawe waja kwangu?
15 Yesu akajibu akamwambia, Kubali hivi sasa; kwa kuwa ndivyo itupasavyo kuitimiza haki yote. Basi akamkubali.
16 Naye Yesu alipokwisha kubatizwa mara akapanda kutoka majini; na tazama, mbingu zikamfunukia, akamwona Roho wa Mungu akishuka kama hua, akija juu yake;
17 na tazama, sauti kutoka mbinguni ikisema, Huyu ni Mwanangu, mpendwa wangu, ninayependezwa naye.
Yesu Kristo alibatizwa na Yohana Mbatizaji katika mto Yordani. Kumbuka kwamba haukuwa ubatizo wa Kikristo bali ubatizo kama alama ya toba kwa Wayahudi. Lakini alama muhimu ilijitokeza wakati Yesu alibatizwa. Utatu Mtakatifu wa Mungu ulidhihirishwa. Mungu Baba alinena kutoka mbinguni kumthibitisha mwanae. Yesu Kristo, Mungu, alivaa ubinadamu, pia alibatizwa na Roho Mtakatifu akichukuwa mwili wa hua alimshukia Yesu Kristo.
Ubatizo wako pia ulikuwa muhimu. Ulipokelewa kama mtoto wa Mungu na ulipewa Roho Mtakatifu kukuongoza katika maisha yako.
