Matendo ya Mitume 3:19-23
9 Tubuni basi, mrejee, ili dhambi zenu zifutwe, zipate kuja nyakati za kuburudishwa kwa kuwako kwake Bwana;
20 apate kumtuma Kristo Yesu mliyewekewa tangu zamani;
21 ambaye ilimpasa kupokewa mbinguni hata zije zamani za kufanywa upya vitu vyote, zilizonenwa na Mungu kwa kinywa cha manabii wake watakatifu tokea mwanzo wa ulimwengu.
22 Kwa maana Musa kweli alisema ya kwamba, Bwana Mungu wenu atawainulieni nabii, katika ndugu zenu, kama mimi; msikieni yeye katika mambo yote atakayonena nanyi.
Wema wa Mungu watuvuta tupate kutubu;
Baada ya kushuka kwa Roho Mtakatifu na Petro kuhutubia hadhira siku ya Pentekoste, Mitume wanaanza kazi ya kuhubiri Injili. Petro anawaambia waliomsikiliza watubu dhambi zao na kurejea kwa Bwana.
Ilikuwa ndio Kanisa limezaliwa. Ujumbe huu wa toba ulikuja mwanzoni kwa nini? Ili kulifundisha Kanisa juu ya toba iletayo msamaha wa dhambi kwa kila atubuye. Hatari ya kutotubu ni kuangamia.

ACTS 3:19-22 (NIV)
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.
God's goodness draws us to repentance;
After the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and Peter addressing the audience on the day of Pentecost, the Apostles begin the work of preaching the Gospel. Peter tells his listeners to repent of their sins and turn to the Lord.
It was the on that day the Church of Christ was born. Why did this message of repentance come at the beginning of the Church? To teach the Church about repentance that brings forgiveness of sins to everyone that repents. The danger of not repenting is destruction.
