2 Chronicles 7:11-14 New International Version (NIV)
The Lord Appears to Solomon
11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
This is a wonderful promise that God gave to King Solomon. We too can claim this promise. When we humble ourselves and repent our sins and even repent on behalf of our fellow citizens. Then God will forgive our sins and heal our nation.
Let us not only pray for our own needs but for the Nation and for other nations in the world. When we hear of problems in the world such as famines and wars and injustice let us cry out to God in prayer. God is ready to hear and answer our prayers when we come to Him in humility and faith.

2 MAMBO YA NYAKATI 7:11-14
11 Hivyo Sulemani akaimaliza nyumba ya Bwana, na nyumba ya mfalme; na yote yaliyomwingia Sulemani moyoni ayafanye nyumbani mwa Bwana, na nyumbani mwake mwenyewe, akayafanikisha.
12 Bwana akamtokea Sulemani usiku, akamwambia, Nimesikia uliyoyaomba, na mahali hapa nimejichagulia kuwa nyumba ya dhabihu.
13 Nikizifunga mbingu isiwe mvua, tena nikiamuru nzige kula nchi, au nikiwapelekea watu wangu tauni;
14 ikiwa watu wangu, walioitwa kwa jina langu, watajinyenyekesha, na kuomba, na kunitafuta uso, na kuziacha njia zao mbaya; basi, nitasikia toka mbinguni, na kuwasamehe dhambi yao, na kuiponya nchi yao.
15 Sasa macho yangu yatafumbuka, na masikio yangu yatasikiliza maombi ya watu waombao mahali hapa.
Mungu aliahidi kusikia na kujibu maombi ya Mfalme Sulemani alipofuata maelekezo ya Mungu. Sisi pia tukitubu dhambi zetu na hata kwa niaba ya watanzania kwa ujumla, Mungu atasikia na kujibu maombi yetu. Pia tunaweza kuombea mataifa. Tukisika habari za maafa, njaa, vita, uonevu n.k. Tunaweza kuomba Mungu awasaidie na wahurumia.
Tusijiombee binafsi tu, bali tujali watu wengine.
