The Sin Offering
24 The Lord said to Moses, 25 “Say to Aaron and his sons: ‘These are the regulations for the sin offering: The sin offering is to be slaughtered before the Lord in the place the burnt offering is slaughtered; it is most holy. 26 The priest who offers it shall eat it; it is to be eaten in the sanctuary area, in the courtyard of the tent of meeting. 27 Whatever touches any of the flesh will become holy, and if any of the blood is spattered on a garment, you must wash it in the sanctuary area. 28 The clay pot the meat is cooked in must be broken; but if it is cooked in a bronze pot, the pot is to be scoured and rinsed with water. 29 Any male in a priest’s family may eat it; it is most holy. 30 But any sin offering whose blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the Holy Place must not be eaten; it must be burned up.
In this passage we read God’s instructions to Moses to be carried out by Aaron and his sons. There are regulations for how to make sin offerings to God to atone for the people’s sins.
All this offerings of animals pointed to the prefect sacrifice of Jesus Christ to atone for our sins. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Next Friday is Good Friday when we will remember Christ’s death for us on the cross. As we approach the Easter season let us pray that God would help us to truly understand the meaning of Christ’s death and resurrection.

LAWI 6:24-30
24 Bwana akanena na Musa, na kumwambia,
25 Nena na Haruni na wanawe, uwaambie, Amri ya hiyo sadaka ya dhambi ni hii; mahali hapo pachinjwapo sadaka ya kuteketezwa ndipo itakapochinjwa sadaka ya dhambi, mbele za Bwana; ni takatifu sana.
26 Huyo kuhani atakayeisongeza kwa ajili ya dhambi ndiye atakayeila; italiwa katika mahali patakatifu, katika ua wa hema ya kukutania.
27 Kila kitu kitakachoigusa nyama ya sadaka hiyo kitakuwa kitakatifu; tena itakapomwagika damu yake yo yote katika nguo yo yote, utaifua nguo hiyo iliyomwagiwa, katika mahali patakatifu.
28 Lakini hicho chombo cha udongo ambacho hiyo nyama ilipikwa ndani yake kitavunjwa; na kama ikipikwa katika chombo cha shaba, kitasuguliwa, na kuoshwa kwa maji.
29 Kila mwana mume miongoni mwa makuhani atakula katika hiyo; ni takatifu sana.
30 Wala haitaliwa sadaka ya dhambi yo yote, ambayo damu yake yo yote ililetwa ndani ya hema ya kukutania, ili kufanya upatanisho katika mahali patakatifu; itachomwa moto.
Maneno haya katika kitabu cha Walawi ni maelezo ya Mungu kwa Musa. Mungu alitoa agizo kwa ajili ya Haruni na watoto wake wa kiume kutekeleza. Ni utaratibu wa jinsi ya kumtolea Mungu sadaka ya dhambi.
Mungu aliweka utaratibu wa sadaka za kuchinja wanyama kwa ajili ya kuomba msamaha wa dhambi za Waisraeli. Sadaka hizi sote zilikuwa maandalizi ya sadaka ya Yesu Kristo kujitoa msalabani. Yesu Kristo ni Mwana kondoo wa Mungu aliyetoa dhambi za ulimwengu.
Ijumaa ijayo ni Ijumaa kuu, siku ambaye tunakumbuka kifo cha Yesu msalabani. Tukielekea msimu wa Pasaka tumwombe Mungu tuelewe zaidi kuhusu maana na umuhimu wa Kifo na kufuka kwa Yesu Kristo.
