TUESDAY 30TH JULY 2019 MORNING
Mark 10:1-12 New International Version (NIV)
Divorce
1 Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.
2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
3 “What did Moses command you?” he replied.
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”
5 “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,”Jesus replied. 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’[a] 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,[b] 8 and the two will become one flesh.’[c] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”

This week our theme is “The commandment to love”. Our passage today is about marriage. We expect husbands and wives to love one another. They make vows promising to stay together and to love and support one another for life. Many marriages today are failing. This is very sad.
Let us pray for those who are planning to become married to know the seriousness of their decision. Let us pray for all who are struggling in their marriage that God would restore their love for one another.

Marko 10:1-12
1 Akaondoka huko akafika mipakani mwa Uyahudi, na ng'ambo ya Yordani; makutano mengi wakakutanika tena wakamwendea; akawafundisha tena kama alivyozoea.
2 Basi Mafarisayo wakamwendea, wakamwuliza, Je! Ni halali mtu kumwacha mkewe? Huku wakimjaribu.
3 Naye akajibu, akawaambia, Musa aliwaamuru nini?
4 Wakasema, Musa alitoa ruhusa kuandika hati ya talaka na kumwacha.
5 Yesu akawaambia, Kwa sababu ya ugumu wa mioyo yenu aliwaandikia amri hii.
6 Lakini tangu mwanzo wa kuumbwa ulimwengu, aliwafanya mume na mke.
7 Kwa sababu hiyo mtu atamwacha babaye na mamaye, ataambatana na mkewe;
8 na hao wawili watakuwa mwili mmoja; hata wamekuwa si wawili tena, bali mwili mmoja.
9 Basi alichokiunganisha Mungu, mwanadamu asikitenganishe.
10 Hata nyumbani tena wanafunzi wakamwuliza habari ya neno hilo.
11 Akawaambia, Kila mtu atakayemwacha mkewe na kuoa mwingine azini juu yake;
12 na mke, akimwacha mumewe na kuolewa na mtu mwingine, azini.
Wazo kuu la wiki hii ni “Amri ya Upendo”. Leo tumepata mafundisho kuhusu ndoa. Yesu anasema kwamba talaka siyo mpango wa Mungu. Tunategemea kwamba watu ambao wanaingia katika ndoa wanapendana. Katika ibada ya ndoa wanaahidi kupendana na kutunzana mpaka kifo kiwatenganishe. Lakini siku hizi ndoa nyingi zinavunjika.
Ni hali ya kusikitisha sana.
Tuwaombee watu ambao wanampanga kuoana waelewe uzito wa maamuzi yao. Pia tuombee wote ambao wanashida kwenye ndoa ili Mungu awarudishia upendo wa mwanzo.
