MONDAY 6TH MARCH 2017 MORNING
Luke 22:40-46 New International Version (NIV)
40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.[a]
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”

Jesus and His disciples have gone to the Mount of Olives on the night when Jesus was betrayed. Jesus knows that He will be arrested and crucified. But He shrinks from the prospect of such suffering. He struggles in prayer and finally gains the victory in accepting God’s will for Him.
We can come to God in prayer. We can bring our problems to God. God will either give us a way out of the problem or the strength and grace to persevere in the difficulty. But let us notice that Jesus warns us not to fall into temptations.

LUKA 22:40-46
40 Alipofika mahali pale aliwaambia, Ombeni kwamba msiingie majaribuni.
41 Mwenyewe akajitenga nao kama kiasi cha kutupa jiwe, akapiga magoti akaomba,
42 akisema, Ee Baba, ikiwa ni mapenzi yako, uniondolee kikombe hiki; walakini si mapenzi yangu, bali yako yatendeke.
43 Malaika kutoka mbinguni akamtokea akamtia nguvu.
44 Naye kwa vile alivyokuwa katika dhiki, akazidi sana kuomba; hari yake ikawa kama matone ya damu yakidondoka nchini.]
45 Alipoondoka katika kuomba kwake, akawajia wanafunzi wake, akawakuta wamelala usingizi kwa huzuni.
46 Akawaambia, Mbona mmelala usingizi? Ondokeni, mkaombe, msije mkaingia majaribuni.
Hapa tunasoma jinsi Yesu alipokwenda Mlima wa Mizetuni kuomba usiku ule wa karamu ya mwisho. Yesu alifahamu kwamba atakamatwa, kuteswa na kusulubiwa, na alipata hisia ya hofu. Alitaka Mungu ikiwezekana abadilishe ili hayo yasimpate. Lakini mwishoni alipata amani kutii mapenzi ya Mungu. Yesu anatukumbusha kujichunga tusijaribiwe.
Sisi tunaweza kuleta shida zetu kwa Mungu katika maombi. Mungu anatuhurumia na kutusikiliza. Mungu atajibu maombi yetu na aidha atatupa njia ya kushinda matatizo au neema na nguvu ya kupitia.
