DAILY WORD FRIDAY 10TH MARCH 2017 MORNING
Isaiah 31 New International Version (NIV)
Woe to Those Who Rely on Egypt
1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
who rely on horses,
who trust in the multitude of their chariots
and in the great strength of their horsemen,
but do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
or seek help from the Lord.
2 Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster;
he does not take back his words.
He will rise up against that wicked nation,
against those who help evildoers.
3 But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God;
their horses are flesh and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
those who help will stumble,
those who are helped will fall;
all will perish together.
4 This is what the Lord says to me:
“As a lion growls,
a great lion over its prey—
and though a whole band of shepherds
is called together against it,
it is not frightened by their shouts
or disturbed by their clamor—
so the Lord Almighty will come down
to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.
5 Like birds hovering overhead,
the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem;
he will shield it and deliver it,
he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”
6 Return, you Israelites, to the One you have so greatly revolted against.7 For in that day every one of you will reject the idols of silver and gold your sinful hands have made.
8 “Assyria will fall by no human sword;
a sword, not of mortals, will devour them.
They will flee before the sword
and their young men will be put to forced labor.
9 Their stronghold will fall because of terror;
at the sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic,”
declares the Lord,
whose fire is in Zion,
whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
The Israelites are condemned for trusting in idols and in human help rather than depending upon the true God. God calls them to repent and turn back to faith in Him.
Let us examine our lives and see if we are truly putting God first and following His plans. Let us not put anyone or anything before God or that will become like an idol to us.

ISAYA 31:1-9
1 Ole wao watelemkao kwenda Misri wapate msaada, na kutegemea farasi; watumainio magari kwa kuwa ni mengi, na wapanda farasi kwa kuwa ni hodari sana; lakini hawamwangalii Mtakatifu wa Israeli, wala hawamtafuti Bwana!
2 Lakini yeye naye ana akili, naye ataleta uovu, wala hatayatangua maneno yake; bali ataondoka juu ya nyumba yao watendao mabaya, na juu ya msaada wa hao watendao maovu.
3 Basi Wamisri ni wanadamu wala si Mungu, na farasi zao ni nyama wala si roho; na Bwana atakaponyosha mkono wake, yeye asaidiaye atajikwaa, na yeye asaidiwaye ataanguka, nao wote pamoja watakoma.
4 Maana Bwana aniambia hivi, Kama vile ilivyo simba angurumapo na mwana-simba juu ya mawindo yake, wachungaji wengi wakiitwa ili kumpiga, lakini hatiwi hofu na sauti zao, wala kufanya woga kwa sababu ya mshindo wao; ndivyo Bwana wa majeshi atakavyoshuka ili kufanya vita juu ya mlima Sayuni, na juu ya kilima chake.
5 Kama ndege warukao, Bwana wa majeshi ataulinda Yerusalemu; ataulinda na kuuokoa, atapita juu yake na kuuhifadhi.
6 Mwelekeeni yeye mliyemwasi sana, enyi wana wa Israeli.
7 Maana katika siku hiyo kila mtu atatupa sanamu zake za fedha, na sanamu zake za dhahabu, ambazo mikono yenu imezifanya, zikawa dhambi kwenu.
8 Ndipo huyo Mwashuri ataanguka kwa upanga ambao si wa mtu; na upanga usio upanga wa mtu utamla; naye ataukimbia upanga, na vijana wake watatoa kodi.
9 Na mwamba wake utatoweka kwa sababu ya hofu, nao wakuu wake wataionea bendera hofu kuu, asema Bwana, ambaye moto wake u katika Sayuni, na tanuru yake katika Yerusalemu.
Kupitia nabii Isaya Mungu anawaonya Waisraeli kwa sababu wamemwacha. Badala ya kumwamini na kumtegemea Mungu wa kweli waliabudu sanamu na walitegemea kusaidiwa na Taifa la Misri. Mungu anataka Waisraeli kutubu na kumrejea.
Tujiangalie tusitegemee binadamu wala miungu. Bali tumtegemee Mungu na tutafute mapenzi yake kila wakati.
