Hesabu 27:12-23
12 Bwana akamwambia Musa, Panda wewe juu ya mlima huu wa Abarimu, uitazame nchi niliyowapa wana wa Israeli.
13 Na ukiisha kuiona, wewe nawe utakusanyika pamoja na baba zako, kama Haruni ndugu yako alivyokusanyika;
14 kwa sababu mliasi juu ya neno langu katika jangwa la Sini wakati wa mateto ya mkutano, wala hamkunistahi, hapo majini, mbele ya macho yao. (Maji hayo ndiyo maji ya Meriba ya Kadeshi katika jangwa la Sini.)
15 Musa akanena na Bwana akisema,
16 Bwana, Mungu wa roho za wenye mwili wote, na aweke mtu juu ya mkutano,
17 atakayetoka mbele yao, na kuingia mbele yao; atakayewaongoza watokapo, na kuwaleta ndani; ili mkutano wa Bwana wasiwe kama kondoo wasio na mchungaji.
18 Bwana akamwambia Musa, Mtwae Yoshua, mwana wa Nuni, mtu mwenye roho ndani yake, ukamwekee mkono wako;
19 kisha ukamweke mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, na mbele ya mkutano wote; ukampe mausia mbele ya macho yao.
20 Nawe utaweka juu yake sehemu ya heshima yako, ili mkutano wote wa wana wa Israeli wapate kutii.
21 Naye atasimama mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, naye atamwulizia kwa hukumu ya ile Urimu mbele za Bwana; kwa neno lake watatoka, na kwa neno lake wataingia; yeye na wana wa Israeli wote pamoja naye, mkutano wote pia.
22 Musa akafanya kama Bwana alivyomwamuru; akamtwaa Yoshua, akamweka mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, na mbele ya mkutano wote;
23 kisha akaweka mikono yake juu yake, akampa mausia, kama Bwana alivyosema kwa mkono wa Musa.
Yesu Kristo ni Mchungaji mwema;
Musa alikuwa amekwishaambiwa kuwa asingefika Kanaani (Hesabu 20) na ilichukua muda kabla ya kupanda mlimani, ambapo pia ndipo sehemu alipofia (Kumb Torati 34).
Jambo la muhimu hapa;
Musa alipoambiwa kuwa hatafika nchi ya ahadi, hakujiongelea yeye, bali alinena na Bwana kuhusu roho za watu (kondoo) aliokuwa akiwaongoza.
Yoshua alijua kuwa watu (yaani kondoo) wangekuwa hatarini bila kuwa na Mchungaji. Wazo hili linakuwa dhahiri tangu kale kuwa kondoo lazima wawe na Mchungaji, kama ilivyotabiriwa na Nabii Mika; Mika 5:4 Naye atasimama, na kulisha kundi lake kwa nguvu za BWANA, kwa enzi ya jina la BWANA, Mungu wake; nao watakaa; maana sasa atakuwa mkuu hata miisho ya dunia.
Huyu anayetabiriwa ni Yesu Kristo aliye Mchungaji mwema, kama alivyosema mwenyewe;Yohana 10:11 Mimi ndimi mchungaji mwema. Mchungaji mwema huutoa uhai wake kwa ajili ya kondoo.
Yoshua alijua na aliona kuwa kondoo hawawezi kukaa bila Mchungaji. Vivyo hivyo, nasi hatuwezi kukaa bila Mchungaji ambaye ni Yesu Kristo, ambaye alikufa kwa ajili yetu.
Fahamu kuwa kamwe huwezi kukaa bila Mchungaji, Yesu Kristo.

Joshua to Succeed Moses
12 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites. 13 After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, 14 for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes.” (These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)
15 Moses said to the Lord, 16 “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community 17 to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
18 So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership,[a] and lay your hand on him. 19 Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. 20 Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him. 21 He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.”
22 Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. 23 Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the Lord instructed through Moses.

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd;
Moses had been told that he would not reach Canaan (Numbers 20) and it took some time before he climbed the mountain, which is also where he died (Deuteronomy 34).
The important thing here;
When Moses was told that he would not enter the Promised Land, he did not speak of himself, but spoke to the Lord about the souls of the people (sheep) he was leading.
Joshua knew that people (sheep) would be in danger if they did not have a shepherd. This idea has long been apparent that sheep must have a Shepherd, as foretold by the Prophet Micah; Micah 5: 4, And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide; for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
This is Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, as he himself said: John 10:11, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Joshua knew and saw that the sheep could not live without the Shepherd. Likewise, we cannot live without a Shepherd who is Jesus Christ, who died for us.
Understand that you can never live without a Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
