Psalm 18:1-6, Romans 3:27-31, Luke 17:7-10
Psalm 18:1-6 New International Version (NIV)
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord. He sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield[b] and the horn[c] of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death entangled me;
the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
5 The cords of the grave coiled around me;
the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears.

Romans 3:27-31 New International Version (NIV)
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
Luke 17:7-10 New International Version (NIV)
7 “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”
We cannot earn our salvation or make ourselves acceptable to God by our own efforts. Even when we do our best we have only done our duty. Let us be thankful that Jesus came to save us so that our sins can be forgiven and we can be accredited as righteous before God. We are saved by Grace not by our works. Thanks be to God.

Zaburi 18:1-6
1 Wewe, Bwana, nguvu zangu, nakupenda sana;
2 Bwana ni jabali langu, na boma langu, na mwokozi wangu, Mungu wangu, mwamba wangu ninayemkimbilia, Ngao yangu, na pembe ya wokovu wangu, na ngome yangu.
3 Nitamwita Bwana astahiliye kusifiwa, Hivyo nitaokoka na adui zangu.
4 Kamba za mauti zilinizunguka, Mafuriko ya uovu yakanitia hofu.
5 Kamba za kuzimu zilinizunguka, Mitego ya mauti ikanikabili.
6 Katika shida yangu nalimwita Bwana, Na kumlalamikia Mungu wangu. Akaisikia sauti yangu hekaluni mwake, Kilio changu kikaingia masikioni mwake.
Warumi 3:27-31
27 Ku wapi, basi, kujisifu? Kumefungiwa nje. Kwa sheria ya namna gani? Kwa sheria ya matendo? La! Bali kwa sheria ya imani.
28 Basi, twaona ya kuwa mwanadamu huhesabiwa haki kwa imani pasipo matendo ya sheria.
29 Au je! Mungu ni Mungu wa Wayahudi tu? Siye Mungu wa Mataifa pia? Naam, ni Mungu wa Mataifa pia;
30 kama kwa kweli Mungu ni mmoja, atakayewahesabia haki wale waliotahiriwa katika imani, nao wale wasiotahiriwa atawahesabia haki kwa njia ya imani iyo hiyo.
31 Basi, je! Twaibatilisha sheria kwa imani hiyo? Hasha! Kinyume cha hayo twaithibitisha sheria.
Luka 17:7-10
7 Lakini, ni nani kwenu mwenye mtumwa alimaye au achungaye ng'ombe, atakayemwambia mara arudipo kutoka shambani, Njoo upesi, keti, ule chakula?
8 Je! Hatamwambia, Nifanyie tayari chakula, nile; jifunge unitumikie, hata niishe kula na kunywa, ndipo nawe utakapokula na kunywa?
9 Je! Atampa asante yule mtumwa, kwa sababu ameyafanya aliyoagizwa?
10 Vivyo hivyo nanyi, mtakapokwisha kuyafanya yote mliyoagizwa, semeni, Sisi tu watumwa wasio na faida; tumefanya tu yaliyotupasa kufanya.
Hatuwezi kujiokoa wala kujihesabia haki kwa njia ya matendo mema. Hata kama tunafanya kazi zetu kwa bidii ni wajibu wetu tu. Yesu alilipa deni kwa ajili ya dhambi zetu. Sisi tunapokea wokovu kama zawadi kwa neema ya Mungu. Tumwamini Yesu Kristo na tutubu dhambi zetu na kupokea neema ya wokovu.
