Romans 6:12-14 New International Version (NIV)
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spiritinto the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

Jesus was tempted by Satan. Jesus overcame Satan by using God’s Word. Every time Satan tried to tempt Jesus He replied by using God’s Word. Satan will try to tempt us in different ways. He knows where we are weak. We cannot overcome Satan in our own strength but if we rely on God we will overcome temptations. We become stronger spiritually by spending time in prayer and meditating upon God’s Word.

23 Ee Mungu, unichunguze, uujue moyo wangu, Unijaribu, uyajue mawazo yangu;
24 Uone kama iko njia iletayo majuto ndani yangu, Ukaniongoze katika njia ya milele.
Rumi 6:12-14
12 Basi, dhambi isitawale ndani ya miili yenu ipatikanayo na mauti, hata mkazitii tamaa zake;
13 wala msiendelee kuvitoa viungo vyenu kuwa silaha za dhuluma kwa dhambi; bali jitoeni wenyewe kwa Mungu kama walio hai baada ya kufa, na viungo vyenu kwa Mungu kuwa silaha za haki.
14 Kwa maana dhambi haitawatawala ninyi, kwa sababu hamwi chini ya sheria, bali chini ya neema.
Luka 4:1-15
Na Yesu, hali amejaa Roho Mtakatifu, alirudi kutoka Yordani, akaongozwa na Roho muda wa siku arobaini nyikani,
2 akijaribiwa na Ibilisi. Na siku hizo alikuwa hali kitu; hata zilipotimia, aliona njaa.
3 Ibilisi akamwambia, Ukiwa ndiwe Mwana wa Mungu, liambie jiwe hili liwe mkate.
4 Yesu akamjibu, Imeandikwa ya kwamba mtu hataishi kwa mkate tu.
5 Akampandisha juu, akamwonyesha milki zote za ulimwengu kwa dakika moja.
6 Ibilisi akamwambia, Nitakupa wewe enzi hii yote, na fahari yake, kwa kuwa imo mikononi mwangu, nami humpa ye yote kama nipendavyo.
7 Basi, wewe ukisujudu mbele yangu yote yatakuwa yako.
8 Yesu akajibu akamwambia, Imeandikwa, Msujudie Bwana Mungu wako, umwabudu yeye peke yake.
9 Akamwongoza mpaka Yerusalemu, akamweka juu ya kinara cha hekalu, akamwambia, Ukiwa ndiwe Mwana wa Mungu, jitupe chini;
10 kwa maana imeandikwa, Atakuagizia malaika zake wakulinde;
11 na ya kwamba,mikononi mwao watakuchukua, Usije ukajikwaa mguu wako katika jiwe.
12 Yesu akajibu akamwambia, Imenenwa, Usimjaribu Bwana Mungu wako.
13 Basi alipomaliza kila jaribu, Ibilisi akamwacha akaenda zake kwa muda.
14 Yesu akarudi kwa nguvu za Roho, akenda Galilaya; habari zake zikaenea katika nchi zote za kandokando.
15 Naye alikuwa akifundisha katika masinagogi yao, akitukuzwa na watu wote.

Yesu alijaribiwa na Shetani kwa njia mbalimbali. Yesu alimjibu Shetani kila wakati kwa kutumia Neno la Mungu. Neno la Mungu lina nguvu. Sisi tunapaswa kutumia Neno la Mungu pia kumshinda shetani. Kwa nguvu zetu tutashindwa, lakini tukimtegemea Mungu na Neno lake tutamshinda Shetani. Tupate nguvu zaidi ya kiroho kwa njia ya maombi na kusoma na kutafakari Neno la Mungu.
