2 Corinthians 8:12-15 New International Version (NIV)
12 For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 14 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, 15 as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”
Our giving should be like God's giving of grace to us: giving freely, generously, because we want to give. When God gives to us out of grace, the motive for His giving is in Him, not based in the one receiving. Our giving should be offered without expectation of payment in return. God does not give to us expecting payback. We can never repay God. We can just serve Him and love Him in return.

12 Maana, kama nia ipo, hukubaliwa kwa kadiri ya alivyo navyo mtu, si kwa kadiri ya asivyo navyo.
13 Maana sisemi hayo, ili wengine wapate raha nanyi mpate dhiki;
14 bali mambo yawe sawasawa; wakati huu wa sasa wingi wenu uwafae upungufu wao, ili na wingi wao uwafae ninyi mtakapopungukiwa; ili mambo yawe sawasawa.
15 Kama ilivyoandikwa, Aliyekusanya vingi, hakuzidi, wala yeye aliyekusanya vichache hakupungukiwa.
Namna yetu ya utoaji ni vyema ikafananishwa na jinsi Mungu alivyoitoa neema yake kwetu. Tunahitaji kutoa bure na kwa kupenda, kwa sababu tuna hiari kutoa. Mungu anatupa vyote bure kwa sababu ya neema yake, na hii ni kwa sababu nia ya kutoa iko ndani yake, na siyo kwa yule anayepokea. Tunapaswa kutoa pasipo kutarajia kupokea chochote toka kwa yule anayepokea. Mungu hatoi kitu kwetu akitarajia kurudishiwa. Kamwe hatuwezi kumlipa Mungu. Tunachoweza kufanya ni kumtumikia na kumpenda.
