WEDNESDSAY 6TH MAY 2020 MORNING MATTHEW 9:14-17
Matthew 9:14-17 New International Version (NIV)
14 Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?”
15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.
16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
So many opportunities are lost because we, as individuals and as communities, are not ready to leave behind us what is no longer valid and useful, and look for a new era in our relationship with God.
Jesus wants our minds and hearts to be like new wine skins - open and ready to receive the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

MATHAYO 9:14-17
14 Wakati ule wanafunzi wake Yohana wakamwendea, wakasema, Kwa nini sisi na Mafarisayo twafunga, bali wanafunzi wako hawafungi?
15 Yesu akawaambia, Walioalikwa arusini wawezaje kuomboleza, muda bwana arusi akiwapo pamoja nao? Lakini siku zitakuja watakapoondolewa bwana arusi; ndipo watakapofunga.
16 Hakuna mtu atiaye kiraka cha nguo mpya katika vazi kuukuu; maana kile kilichotiwa huondoa kipande cha lile vazi, na pale palipotatuka huzidi.
17 Wala watu hawatii divai mpya katika viriba vikuukuu; na kama wakitia, vile viriba hupasuka, divai ikamwagika, na viriba vikaharibika; bali hutia divai mpya katika viriba vipya, vikahifadhika vyote.
Mara nyingi tunapoteza fursa mbalimbali kwa sababu, sisi kama mtu mmoja mmoja na kama jamii hatuko tayari kuacha yale mambo ya kale yasiyo na thamani, tena yasiyohitajika ili kutafuta majira mapya ya mahusiano baina yetu na Mungu.
Yesu anataka akili na mioyo yetu ifanane na viriba vipya vya mvinyo; vilivyo tayari kupokea uongozi wa Roho Mtakatifu.
