Luke 9:51-56 New International Version (NIV)
51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[b]?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then he and his disciples went to another village.
The message of the kingdom concerns deliverance, not judgment.
The conduct of the Samaritan villagers was not to be resented by violence. The mission of the Son of man was to do good, when men would receive Him, but never to do harm. His kingdom was to be extended by patient continuance in well doing, and by meekness and gentleness in suffering, but never by violence and severity.

51 Ikawa, siku za kupaa kwake zilipokuwa karibu kutimia, yeye aliukaza uso wake kwenda Yerusalemu; 52 akatuma wajumbe kutangulia mbele ya uso wake; wakaenda wakaingia katika kijiji cha Wasamaria, ili kumtengenezea mahali. 53 Lakini wenyeji hawakumkaribisha kwa vile alivyouelekeza uso wake kwenda Yerusalemu. 54 Wanafunzi wake Yakobo na Yohana walipoona hayo, walisema, Bwana, wataka tuagize moto ushuke kutoka mbinguni, uwaangamize; [kama Eliya naye alivyofanya]? 55 Akawageukia, akawakanya. [Akasema, Hamjui ni roho ya namna gani mliyo nayo.] 56 Kwa maana Mwana wa Adamu hakuja kuziangamiza roho za watu, bali kuziokoa. Wakaondoka wakaenda mpaka kijiji kingine.
Ujumbe mkuu wa ufalme wa mbinguni unahusu kufunguliwa na siyo hukumu.
Tabia ya wakazi wa kijiji cha Samaria haikustahili kujibiwa kwa hasira. Huduma ya Yesu ilikuwa na nia ya kutenda mema, pale alipokaribishwa, na siyo kuwaangamiza watu. Ufalme wake ulipaswa kuenea kwa kuendelea kutenda mema kwa njia ya uvumilivu, upole, na utii katika mateso, lakini pasipo ukatili wala hasira.
