Galatians 3:1-6 New International Version (NIV)
Faith or Works of the Law
1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[a] 4 Have you experienced[b] so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[c]

The Apostle Paul is disappointed that the Galatian Christians seem to have gone backwards spiritually. They knew that they were saved by faith in Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection. But now they seem to be trusting in their own efforts. We cannot be saved by following laws. We need to receive the free gift of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. Then we need to follow the guiding of The Holy Spirit so that we are changed to be like Jesus.

GALATIA 3:1-6
1 Enyi Wagalatia msio na akili, ni nani aliyewaloga, ninyi ambao Yesu Kristo aliwekwa wazi mbele ya macho yenu ya kuwa amesulibiwa?
2 Nataka kujifunza neno hili moja kwenu. Je! Mlipokea Roho kwa matendo ya sheria, au kwa kusikia kunakotokana na imani? 3 Je! Mmekuwa wajinga namna hii? Baada ya kuanza katika Roho, mnataka kukamilishwa sasa katika mwili?
4 Mmepatikana na mateso makubwa namna hii bure? Ikiwa ni bure kweli.
5 Basi, yeye awapaye Roho na kufanya miujiza kati yenu, je! Afanya hayo kwa matendo ya sheria, au kwa kusikia kunakotokana na imani?
6 Kama vile Ibrahimu alivyomwamini Mungu akahesabiwa haki.
Mtume Paulo anasikitika kwamba Wakristo kule Galilaya wanarudi nyuma kiroho. Walianza vizuri kwa imani katika Yesu Kristo. Walijua kwamba wokovu unapatikana kwa kuamini Kifo na kufuka kwa Yesu Kristo. Lakini badaye walianza kutegemea juhudi zao kufuata sheria.
Tunapaswa kuelewa kwamba tumeokolewa kwa neema kwa njia ya Imani. Pia utakaso unapatikana kwa njia ya kukubali kuongozwa na Roho Mtakatifu ili tuzae matunda la Roho.
