FRIDAY 11TH MAY 2018 MORNING
Acts 1:9-12 New International Version (NIV)
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk[a] from the city.

Yesterday was Ascension day which is 40 days after Easter Sunday. Jesus was on earth for 40 days after He rose from the dead. During that time He appeared to His disciples on several occasions. Today we read about His ascension and about the promise of His return to earth in glory. Jesus is in heaven now. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. We do not know when He will come. Let us be ready by trusting and obeying Jesus all the time.

MATENDO 1:9-12
9 Akiisha kusema hayo, walipokuwa wakitazama, akainuliwa, wingu likampokea kutoka machoni pao.
10 Walipokuwa wakikaza macho mbinguni, yeye alipokuwa akienda zake, tazama, watu wawili wakasimama karibu nao, wenye nguo nyeupe,
11 wakasema, Enyi watu wa Galilaya, mbona mmesimama mkitazama mbinguni? Huyu Yesu aliyechukuliwa kutoka kwenu kwenda juu mbinguni, atakuja jinsi iyo hiyo mlivyomwona akienda zake mbinguni.
12 Kisha wakarudi kwenda Yerusalemu kutoka mlima ulioitwa wa Mizeituni, ulio karibu na Yerusalemu, wapata mwendo wa sabato.
Jana ilikuwa siku ya kukumbuka Kupaa kwake Yesu Kristo kurudi mbinguni. Yesu alipaa kwenda mbinguni siku 40 baada ya kufuka kutoka wafu. Katika siku hizo arobaini alikutana na wanafunzi wake mara kwa mara. Tumesoma leo jinsi Yesu alivyopaa mbinguni na ahadi ya kurudi kwake duniani kwa utukufu kuwahukumu walio hai na wafu. Yesu yupo mbinguni na siku mmoja atarudi duniani. Hatujui atarudi lini. Basi tuwe tayari kumpokea kwa kuishi maisha ya kumtegemea na kumtii kila siku.
