37 Ikawa siku zile akaugua, akafa; hata walipokwisha kumwosha, wakamweka orofani.

39 Petro akaondoka akafuatana nao. Alipofika, wakampeleka juu orofani wajane wote wakasimama karibu naye, wakilia na kumwonyesha zile kanzu na nguo alizozishona Dorkasi wakati ule alipokuwa pamoja nao.

40 Petro akawatoa nje wote, akapiga magoti, akaomba, kisha akaelekea yule maiti, akanena, Tabitha, ondoka.

Uwakili wetu kwa Bwana;

Maudhui hasa ya somo hili ni kufufuka kwa Dorkasi. Hebu rudia kusoma mstari huu;

Najaribu kujiuliza;

-Mungu alimsikiza Petro?

Alhamisi njema.

THURSDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 2021, MORNING

ACTS 9:36-43 (NIV)

36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”

39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.

40 Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. 41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. 42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. 43 Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.

Our stewardship to the Lord;

Dorcas falls sick and dies, Peter is sought, he prays and Dorcas immediately wakes up from her sleep of death! She is risen! It was not a normal situation. And after that incident many believed in the Lord. Here we need to know that the Lord has the power to solve the challenges we face in our daily lives.

The main content of this lesson though, is the resurrection of Dorcas. Let's read this verse again;

Acts 9:36

[36] Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did.

Apparently the one who asked was the Apostle Peter, but as we read in verse 36 above, Dorcas was full of "good works and offerings".

I try to ask myself;

- Did God listen to Peter?

- Did God look at the good deeds of Dorcas?

- Did God look at Dorcas' offerings?

Looking at the scriptures I see the answer to all the questions is "yes". That is, we should be as faithful to God as Peter was, and be filled with good works like Dorcas, giving generously to God, so that the blessings of the Lord may accompany us always.

Good Thursday.
